Youth Board Messages

I hope everyone enjoyed the delegates meeting this past weekend held in Port St. Lucie.  I would like to thank the Port St. Lucie Police Department and the Port St. Lucie Police Explorer Post for hosting the delegates meeting.

For those of you who were unable to attend, here is what was discussed during the delegates meeting:

January Delegates will be held in Crystal River.

The F.A.P.E. is considering offering two scholarships that will be awarded at the state competition each year.  No one at the meeting was opposed to the idea and it is now awaiting approval by the board.

The 2012 State Competition will be held in Crystal River.  Some of the fun nights that are scheduled so far are a dodgeball tournament, movie night at the pool, and a dance.  If you have any ideas of what you and your post would like to do for fun nights, please email your regional representative with your suggestion.

Many posts have expressed interest in having a drill competition at State Competition once again.  In order to have the drill competition, we need a minimum of 10 posts to compete.

The idea was brought up of having a Explorer Post of the Year Award.  The board likes this idea and the nomination process will be set up much like the Explorer and Advisor of the Year Awards.  Guidelines and the application will be out by January.

We would like to wish the best of luck to Yermaine Briceno with the Miami Beach Police Explorer Post.  Yermaine is starting the police academy and will be beginning the first part of his law enforcement career.  We wish him great success!
